Deadlines

 In Uncategorized

Time is of the essence when you are dealing with the hassle of applying to a new university for an upcoming semester. This task is even more laborious for international students given that they have multiple aditionnal documents to request and send before due date.

Furthermore, since the deadlines for international students often differ from that of domestic applicants, it is essential to be fully informed and maximally prepared for any complications that may arise at a later time in the application process.

In this context, One Vision Tour has curated all of the relevant and essential information regarding the deadlines of application for a foreign student in the different universities of the city, in order to fight the vile beast of procrastination and avoid the useless troubles it can breed.

MCGILL

In the case of McGill, as in most cases, the deadlines not only depend on the status or nationality of the applicant, but also on the preferred program. Certain faculties, namely that of Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Music, Continuing Studies and Summer Studies, have separate admission offices you most register through.

Nonetheless, McGill’s general undergraduate application deadlines for a person who is neither a Canadian citizen nor a permanent resident of Canada are as such : March 1st for the Fall semester, July 1st for the Winter semester and November 1st for the Summer semester.

THE UNIVERSITÉ DU QUÉBEC À MONTRÉAL (UQAM)

Concerning Uqam, foreign candidates may only submit their applications either for the Fall semester or for the Winter semester. It is important to note that in the case of the latter, only programs with no enrollment quotas may be applied to.

This means that if you would like to register in a very sought-after domain of study such as law or medicine, you must sign up for the Fall semester, as this is the only period where admittance into such programs is permitted.

Supplementary information on Uqam’s limited enrollment programs can be found on their website, where they show the annual admittance statistics for popular undergraduate programs. The webpage of each individual program also mentions if it has limited enrollment.

For the fall, the official deadline for foreign undergraduate students at Uqam is March 1st. For graduate students, it may vary, so it is encouraged that you check your program’s deadlines online. For the winter semester, the official deadline is September 15 for all educational levels.

It is greatly encouraged that, as a foreign candidate who needs to plan ahead and sort out a lot of paperwork, you submit your application before the 1st of February for the fall semester, and before August 1st for the winter semester.

Also, keep in mind that for Uqam as well as for UdeM, only full-time programs are available for international students.

UNIVERSITY OF MONTREAL (UDEM)

At UdeM, the fall semester deadline for international undergraduate as well as graduate students falls on February 1st. However, depending on the applicant’s prior education level, it can also be on March 1st.

For the winter semester, the deadline is November 1st for undergraduate students and September 1st for graduate students. Please note that certain programs extend their deadline, so once again it is advised to consult the individual program’s page, since it overrules the general deadline set for all programs.

CONCORDIA

At Concordia, the official deadlines for someone outside of Canada are : February 1st for the Fall semester, and September 1st for the winter semester. The deadline for graduate studies depend on the chosen faculty.
